It seems that designers are on a roll these days. Emraan Rajput, a well-known menswear designer, inaugurated his Zamzama outlet in Karachi on December 30, 2009. The shop showcased Rajput’s work, which included sherwanis with very ornate and detailed embroidery and shimmering overcoats. Eye-catching shirts with floral prints and formal striped shirts also formed part of the collection.

Rajput’s outlet is small and cosy, with wooden flooring and off-white walls, and the lights enhanced the ambience of the shop. The walls had photo frames of well known models displaying Rajput’s previous work.

When asked what made him open an outlet in Karachi when he already had one in Lahore, Rajput explained that there was scope for menswear fashion in Karachi; a few years back people were conservative about what they wore but now that has changed. He said he would love to be innovative and modernise his work. Rajput hopes to launch a womenswear outlet as well.
