Traditionally diamonds may have been a girl’s best friend, but other gems have their own lustre… and all that glitters isn’t always gold. Zeenie Syed’s new-age jewellery puts tired clichés to bed. Her debut collection, comprising striking pendants of semi-precious stones set in beautifully crafted silver and strung on clusters of dramatic bead necklaces, is bold, bohemian, sophisticated and feminine all at once….“big statement pieces,” as Zeenie refers to them.

Most pendants are detachable and can dress up a bag, dangle from a sari waist or be worn as a brooch. They can be hung on chords or simple silver chains. Likewise, the strings of beads can be worn on their own and can also grace more than just the neck. The long ones can double as belts, or be looped around the wrist like a bracelet.

Suddenly jewellery has a new language.
