Suroor has officially arrived on the Pakistani music scene. After having impressed music buffs with their singles and videos, the band has finally released their debut album Pyar Tou Hona He Hae. And their first CD is a rock solid effort.

Released under the Fire Records label, the album was launched by the vocalist duo of Kamran Bari and Mohammad Ali at the Royale Rodale Club on April 14. However, the planned fanfare of the organisers never took hold as only a fraction of the invitees bothered to show up, and that too in dribs and drabs.

The evening eventually got underway with a red carpet appearance by the band, followed by a press conference of sorts, where journalists and camera crews interacted with the singers. The ensuing concert did not start till after 9:00 p.m., even though the invitation card read 6:30 p.m.

But once the band got started, it made up for all the glitches in the event. With dexterous vocals by classically trained Ali and powerful backing by the rest of the band, Suroor took the audience on an entertaining ride. The one-hour gig left everyone impressed.

But this is just the beginning of the journey for Suroor. The band is heading to India in May. Who knows where they may end up next.
