Of Peaches and Pests

The Liberty Books store, near BBQ Tonite, played host to a hundred little guests aged 6 to 12 years on June 30. The occasion was a reading session of James and the Giant Peach, Roald Dahl’s much loved children’s classic. The interesting characters were was brought to life by the effervescence of author Bina Shah, who had the little ones listening to her with rapt attention.
A popular children’s novel, James and the Giant Peach was written in 1961 by British author Roald Dahl. It is the story of a young English orphan, who enters a gigantic, magical peach, and has a wild and surreal cross-world adventure with six magically-altered garden pests he meets. Bina Shah did justice to this quirky tale with her expressive style.
After Bina Shah’s captivating reading, host Usma breezed through some fun quizzes with the children. Later, the kids were treated to refreshments, courtesy the ever-popular Pie in the Sky, which served its scrumptious cupcakes to the children. Nickelodeon delighted the children with its highly popular characters SpongeDob Squarepants and Diego from Dora the Explorer. All in all, it was a fun evening enjoyed by the kids, and their mothers, alike.
