The wedding season has arrived and top Pakistani fashion designer Umar Sayeed is, as always, one of the front-runners. But Sayeed surprised his clientele this time round by launching Psyche, his ready-to-wear formal line at Feathers, multi-brand boutique located on the second floor of The Forum, which houses the creation of 20 other Pakistani designers.

The event was jam-packed with photographers and guests, who were all treated to an assortment of colourful and refreshing cocktail drinks prior to the event. Eram Sheikh, owner of Feathers, was delighted to have Umar Sayeed’s label in her boutique. She said that Psyche would appeal to her clientele who come from abroad to attend weddings and prefer ready-to-wear ensembles over customized suits.

Surprisingly, the event lasted only 15 minutes and started on time, with the models strutting down the crammed boutique’s makeshift runway and showing off every outfit from every angle for the photographers. The theme of the collection was traditional pret wear in seasonal fall colours. Up-and-coming model Amna Babar turned heads as she took the runway in a beautiful pastel pink creation which was embellished with elaborate stonework.
The traditional designs, the flared cuts and the deep colours of the collection carried the distinctive Umar Sayeed signature of class and impeccable craftsmanship.

According to Sayeed, his latest collection, with prices ranging from Rs 40,000 — 70,000, is meant to be a tad bit more ‘’affordable’’ than his bridal couture wear. Sayeed has certainly carved a niche for himself in the industry and, more than fashion, this launch was about the expansion of his empire.
